Y'all need to understand that I am not and emotional person on the subject of books. No, I promise That's not me heartless, I just now don't cry easily. Yes, during books my heartbeat accelerates and I'll feel bad for the characters, on the other hand don't actually cry. That is among the only books where I've got come this close to tears. And thats saying something.
But before I purchase into all the emotional thing about this book, I would like to first focus on the characters.
Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's my favorite type of heroine i are aware that sometimes this category commence to blend together but something I enjoy about her is although she may be these products like numerous other heroines in existence, she's a slam dunk lovable and witty similar to others. She's standoffish and a loner and yes it has a long time for someone to acquire through to her. She's mature beyond her years because she's to be. She was crowned the sole supporter of her family at such a young age plus it hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this tough exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's at the front of her: the reality that people cherish her. However, although its challenging to get past her hardened exterior, once you do, she's a remarkably kind and admirable person. This is especially shown through her actions at the reaping. She cared a whole lot for her family that she was prepared to risk her lifetime, knowing that her chances for coming back home were slim, simply to keep her sister safe. If it is not value respect, i quickly don't know what's.
Peeta is also a great character. He's essentially the entire the complete opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly loves Katniss regardless of whether she can't visualize it herself. Although you may avoid getting to find out to much about him as this is from Katniss' perspective, you may still observe that he has admirable qualities too. Normally I enjoy the alpha male plus the bad-boy (I reckon that its kinda my weakness) however do also are seduced by the sweet, respectful guys and I fell head-over-heels for his heart.
In terms of secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink a bit to much, but has a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly likes you Katniss despite the fact that he hardly knows her. Even the other tributes each had their particular personalities that built them into unique (Don't even get me going on Rue!).
This book was only so incredibly emotional. 24 kids get into an arena simply 1 arrives. I honestly can't even imagine when i was in their situation. I know which i would do whatever it popularized survive, so how would that change me? Each tribute only agreed to be trying to survive. They didn't desire to be there (well, except several), but were expected to be. As soon as your facing your immediate death, how would you react? Survival changes people. These different reactions to their situations were shown remarkably well through the various tributes. Collins' does an incredible jobs of showing how people would fare in this situation. While each of the bloodshed when it comes to is disturbing, probably the most annoying thing for me personally was the truth that individuals with the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying also to them it had been just entertainment. They were completely oblivious!! That it was all just a game to them. Providing these were entertained, these people were happy. It turned out sick. Completely and utterly sick.
And also to boost the comfort, I felt awful with the other tributes, even as they tried to kill Katniss and Peeta. How will you not? These people were thrown right into a situation many of them weren't ready for and just trying to find home. Even though they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right in addition to Katniss. She, too, knows that these folks were only doing what they have to were required to function like she was.
The Hunger Games can be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is a beautiful story full of survival, hope and fighting for which you love.
