There is a lot to keep one busy in the Treasure Coast area. There are a lot of outdoor activities one can do here and there is great shopping and a multitude of dining options. There are numerous choices for indoor and outdoor recreational activities. You can go golfing at a number of courses. There is horseback riding nearby. You could fish from the shore or hire a charter and go for a deep-sea fishing excursion. When the waves are right you can go surfing or boogie-boarding or you can just amble the beaches looking for seashells.
You could have heard of some of Florida's more popular beaches but the best beaches in Florida aren't necessarily the most popular. Daytona Clearwater and Panama City are three of the beaches that come to mind when people think of the best beaches for Florida. Most of the more well-known beaches are on the Gulf of Mexico. While they may be good areas for a short group watching type of beach experience, if you want to relax and enjoy uncrowded beaches you need to give the Treasure Coast region a good look.
Melbourne is to the north so you are escaping the crowds of both West Palm Beach which is south of here and heaps of people from Orlando that vivit Melbourne. Vero Beach is ideally set between the two. Some of the least crowded and best beaches in Florida are between the Sebastian Inlet and the Fort Pierce Inlet. The water here can be a beautiful blue at times. The water in Melbourne and north can be cloudy or sandy more often than not. We are at the edge of the tropics here which is evident in the water at times.
The Sea Spray Inn is set right next to South Beach Park which is a public park with great beach access. The park is split by tropical growth. There are barbecue grills, picnic tables, public restrooms and grassy areas near the parking. In order to get to the beach you take one of three walkways through the jungle growth for about 50 yards to get to the sand. Of all the beaches in the area this one has the widest area of sand. Between the tropical growth and the water there is usually at least 60 yards of sand. The other two beaches have less than 10 yards of sand at high tide. The shopping district is near the middle of the three public beach parks.
The old downtown has been nicely restored and turned into an upscale shopping area. It is full of a all-inclusive assortment of shops. The stores include a cool kitchen shop, homemade candy shop, several marvellous clothing stores a unique mens shop, some really nice jewelry stores and many others. Some of the better known and best quality restaurants are on the barrier island. Being one of the best areas to shop does not mean it is the only one. Then if you continue west on 60 you will find all the big box stores you possibly could want and a vast indoor mall.
